It can be a warzone. Imagine 22 elite athletes able to hit a granite hard field hockey ball to speeds in excess of 100 km/h. Imagine having to fend off the opposing team’s hockey sticks, while chasing after and protecting that precious ball. Broken bones and shattered noses are common.

Africa Cup has NWU sparkle

On Friday 18 October, the cream of the continent’s netball crop will converge at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town to compete in the Africa Netball Cup. Lesotho, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania will, along with South Africa as the host nation, compete to secure this much sought after trophy.

NWU Vaal and KFC Mini Cricket Festival: little cricketers, big aspirations!

When it comes to young cricket talent, the Vanderbijlpark region is well on its way to produce the next AB de Villiers, JP Duminy and Kagiso Rabada.  This was evident during the recent KFC Mini Cricket Festival that was hosted at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark.
