With only two games remaining in the Varsity Netball round-robin stage, the North-West University (NWU) faces a crucial period in their campaign as they fight to secure a place in the semi-finals. Despite a challenging weekend, where NWU suffered a 64-39 loss against the University of Johannesburg (UJ), the team remains focused on their goal.

Coach Elsunet du Plessis emphasises that their semi-final hopes are still alive and that they are working hard to improve and perform under pressure.

The North-West University (NWU) football team claimed a convincing 3-0 victory against Durban University of Technology (DUT), securing their spot in a home semi-final of the Varsity Football tournament.  

From the outset, the NWU dominated the match, applying relentless pressure on DUT with a series of aggressive attacks. Their disciplined defence and fluid teamwork stifled DUT's attempts to gain momentum, while the NWU's precise passes and strategic plays led to a commanding lead.

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) Initial Test of Competence (ITC) exam is a critical milestone for aspiring chartered accountants in the country, and North-West University (NWU) students have once again proven to be among the best in the country.

Achieving high results in this exam demonstrates a strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles and readiness for advanced professional practice.

North-West University (NWU) student and bodybuilder Rusmore Verah has been selected to represent South Africa at the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) World Men’s Bodybuilding Championships that will take place from 23 to 27 September 2024 on Kish Island, Iran.

Rushmore's selection comes after a series of strong performances in various bodybuilding competitions. He recently clinched first place and the overall title in the Men's Physique Over 178 cm category, solidifying his place as one of South Africa's top bodybuilding talents.

The North-West University (NWU) will be hosting the thrilling Prestige Schools Sevens Rugby tournament at the Fanie du Toit sportsgrounds in Potchefstroom on 6 and 7 September, where the  under-17 teams from 16 top rugby schools will compete for the champion spot.

In an intense and competitive match, the North-West University (NWU) faced off against the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in a thrilling encounter that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The game kicked off with both teams showing early promise but struggling to break the deadlock in the opening minutes. Despite several probing attacks from both sides, the score remained goalless until the 27th minute.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Student Campus Council (SCC) on the Mahikeng Campus invited young female students and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to an event to celebrate Women’s Month on 17 August 2024.

Young scientists from several primary and secondary schools in the North West province presented their scientific projects at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Regional Science Fair held on Friday, 2 August 2024 at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Potchefstroom Campus.

The learners were also treated with a campus tour, including  a visit to the Botanical Gardens and Science Centre.

Fourth-year occupational hygiene students and staff from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the North-West University (NWU) recently visited two industry partners, enriching their educational experience with real-world insights.

Prof Anja Franken from the subject group Occupational Hygiene says their first stop was at Aquatico Scientific in Centurion.
