The North-West University’s three Olympic speedsters, Chederick van Wyk, Zakhiti Nene and Pieter Conradie, are in the spotlight in Tokyo this week when the relay items commence just before the weekend.

One of the favourite sons of the North-West University (NWU), Chederick van Wyk, currently finds himself in Tokyo, Japan, in the company of a hand-picked group of South Africans who will fly the country’s flag at the Olympic Games. Van Wyk, who will take part in the 4 X 100 m relay, took some time after supper to share his experiences in Tokyo so far.

She is the cannon arm of 1 NWU Battalion and in a few weeks’ time, she and her fellow citizens are going to start their campaign in the theatre of the Pacific Ocean.  Yes, Jo-Ané van Dyk is going to the Olympic Games.

The scene where the Mooi River winds around the Fanie du Toit sports fields is a well known one. Just below the High Performance Institute there is a stretch of about 100 m that serves as a hazardous no-fly zone to our feathered friends. Javelins fly here.

The North West Academy of Sport (NWAS) has been using the Institute of Sport Science and Development at the Centre of Health and Human Performance (CHHP) as a consultant for over two decades.  The services provided include assessments, exercise programmes, workshops and various other specialist services.

Onalenna Tsae, former North-West University (NWU) boxing team coach and alumna, was elected as the deputy secretary-general (DSG) of the South African National Boxing Organisation (SANABO) during its recent annual general meeting.

The North-West University (NWU) is proud to congratulate Elroy Gelant, a staff member in People and Culture, on making the South African squad that will compete at the Olympic Games from 23 July to 8 August in Tokyo, Japan. He will compete in the marathon event which will be staged on 7 August.

The 2021 Olympic Games are almost here and 22-year-old NWU hockey captain Charné Maddocks from Kimberley was selected for the South African Hockey team that will be headed to Tokyo, Japan in July.

Drama. That was the hallmark of the North-West University (NWU) Eagles march into the semi-finals of the Varsity Cup after they beat the CUT Ixias 35-32 on Tuesday afternoon.
