The past weekend saw top-class basketball action at the Sasol NWU Vanderbijlpark Junior Basketball Tournament. The tournament took place at the Harry Gwala Sport Complex in Zamdela.

The ladies basketball team of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark proved their mettle on the court during the recent University Sport South Africa (USSA) Championships which took place in Stellenbosch. The team enjoyed a good run and achieved the third position overall.

Joné Kruger (19), a pharmacy student from the North West University (NWU) is the new African Heptathlon champion. She won the title at the recent Junior African Games in Tlemcen, Algeria.The Junior African Games are held every two years for African athletes under the age of 20.
