Members of the Student Campus Council (SCC) on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng are leading by example by promoting academic excellence.
This was evident during the autumn graduation that took place from 2 to 4 May 2018.
Among the graduates were Bongani Khensani Mahlangu, chairperson of the SCC and general secretary of the NWU Student Representative Council. Bongani received his honours degree in economics. Other SCC members who graduated were Thabang Belang, general secretary (BAdmin in human resources, cum laude), Katlego Lekaba, societies officer (BSoc in development studies), Lucky Molioa, community and stakeholder engagement officer (Bachelor of Public Administration), and Kopano Monare, fund raising officer (BA in political science).
“We are celebrating five members of the SCC graduating during this autumn graduation ceremony,” said Bongani.
“Just recently, Ms Naledi Pandor, the Minister of Higher Education and Training implored student leaders on Twitter to complete their studies in record time, and we have responded to her call.”
“I wish to encourage all student leaders to leave their institutions of learning within the minimum study years. They have to lead by example, graduate in time and go back to implement change in society and contribute to the economy,” said Ms Pandor.
Bongani Mahlangu, chairperson of the Student Campus Council (SCC) on the NWU’s campus in Mahikeng, and Thabang Belang, the SCC’s secretary general, are proud graduates of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.
