The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics (BMI) held its annual Prestige Awards Ceremony on 26 April 2024, celebrating the exceptional achievements of its students across various categories.

The NWU BMI Prestige Awards do not only celebrate academic excellence, but also highlights the university's commitment to fostering industry-relevant research and innovation. The accomplishments of these students reflect the NWU’s dedication to cultivating leaders and innovators in the fields of business mathematics and informatics.

When one thinks about Mercedes-Benz, images of class, power, prestige and the well-known and loved brand immediately come to mind. Prof Chris van Schoor, project manager and industrial engineering consultant, was the project lead overseeing a significant construction and infrastructure update at the Mercedes-Benz automative assembly plant in East London, South Africa.

North-West University's Faculty of Theology recently held a successful career day at the Govan Mbeki Hall in Potchefstroom. The event explicitly targeted high school students from disadvantaged areas who are interested in pursuing tertiary studies in Theology. It aimed to provide participants with invaluable insights into various career paths within the Faculty of Theology and educate them on the enrollment process at NWU.

From Potchefstroom to Vanderbijlpark and Mahikeng, each campus offered a unique yet equally thrilling experience.

The North-West University's (NWU’s) People and Culture division held an engagement session for its Women in Leadership initiative on 17 May 2024 at the Mahikeng Campus.

This session marks the first of three across the NWU’s campuses, following the programme's launch in 2023. The aim is to empowering female staff through professional development and extensive training opportunities.

Prince Motaung, North-West University (NWU) alumnus and coach of the dance team on the Mahikeng Campus, recently earned national Protea colours.

He will also manage and coach dance team Omphile Makhobosi and Palesa Mphela, who will represent South Africa at the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) World Championship’s Under-21 Latin competition on 16 November 2024 in Salaspils, Latvia.

In celebration of Africa Day on 24 May 2024, the North-West University (NWU) hosted a webinar focusing on enhancing education across the continent. Themed "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century", the event brought together experts to engage in a comprehensive dialogue aimed at building resilient education systems that promote increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning.

Prof Bismark Tyobeka, principal and vice-chancellor of the North-West University (NWU) has been awarded the prestigious National Order of Merit, also known as the l’Ordre National du Mérite, on behalf of the Presid

Moses Phiri, widely known as DJ 10111, graduated with a PhD in statistics from the North-West University (NWU) on 22 May 2024.

He is the second DJ to achieve this academic milestone at the NWU, following DJ HK who earned a PhD in geography in 2022.

Born and raised in Mahikeng, he completed his bachelor’s degree in statistics in 2009 and his honours degree (cum laude) in 2010. His pursuit of education continued at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, where he completed a postgraduate diploma in general management in 2018 and an MBA in strategic leadership in 2020.

Several students from the North-West University (NWU) participated in a collaborative online international learning (COIL) project, demonstrating the university's continued efforts to expand its global footprint.

The BCom students at the Potchefstroom Campus who are pursuing an honours degree in Management Sciences with Marketing and Management Sciences with Business Management were recently recognised for their dedication to completing a case study about a multinational corporation.
