The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Campus in Mahikeng recorded a surge in doctoral degree graduates during its recent autumn graduation ceremony. Thirty-nine doctoral degrees out of a total of 2 233 degrees across all faculties were conferred, with 11 of these being university staff members.

As winners of the 2017 rendition of the First Years Carnival, the residence was awarded a cash prize of R10 000 by Prof Linda du Plessis, acting campus rector.

The Department of Social Work on the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) hosted an oath-taking ceremony for second-year social work students while celebrating World Social Work Day on 29 March 2017 at the Student Centre Hall.

When the 21-year old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was announced as Miss South Africa 2017 on 26 March, the whole of the North-West University (NWU) and all its stakeholders, cheered as one. For the first time in history, an alumna of the NWU walked away with this crown.
