Alumni Gala Evening – a night to remember

The alumni community of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark has grown used to elegant evening events with good wine, great music and dear friends. As in the past, this year’s rendition of the NWU Alumni Gala function did not disappoint.

The theme of the evening was Black and Gold and patrons took to the red carpet in true Hollywood style.

The evening’s formal programme saw Mr Clement Manoko, the executive director for corporate relations and marketing, addressing the audience and welcoming alumni and other stakeholders such as the local Chamber of Commerce to the evening’s celebrations.

The Ebukhosini Residence Acapella group

The evening’s entertainment spoke to a variety of music tastes and every foot in the house were tapping after the very first song. The show started with the campus’ very own Ebukhosini Residence Acapella Group, which left the audience in awe. The Afrikaans music diva Liezel Pieters, followed suit and had the audience on their feet in no time.

After dinner, Brian Temba had a tough act to follow, but did so in true style! The well-known performer, who is also a songwriter and producer, wound the evening down to an elegant conclusion with soothing rhythm and blues numbers.

The official end of the programme certainly didn’t bring an end to the evening.  Alumni members, staff members and friends of the campus stayed until late- catching up and talking about the good old days.
