NWU and DSI continue to raise awareness on indigenous knowledge

In 2020 the North-West University (NWU) joined forces with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) to start raising awareness about and to position, develop and promote indigenous knowledge systems – and in particular the Indigenous Knowledge Act (IK Act) and the Bio-cultural Community Protocol (BCP*) – in South Africa.

NWU Transformation Society to embark on gender-based violence and LGBTIQA+ awareness march

The Transformation Society on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbiljpark Campus will take to the streets, marching to raise awareness and educate the public on issues of gender-based violence, gender identity and sexual diversity in support of the LGBTIQA+ community.

NWU celebrates Race Awareness Week

Race Awareness Week (RAW) is a week-long annual event at the North-West University (NWU), dedicated to raising awareness on the current discussions around race in South African society. The goal is to open discussions on history, current events and how we can progress in the future. This is done to create awareness on current debates around race and to stimulate impactful changes by building empathy and progress in our communities.

NWU Student Life and School of Nursing celebrate nurses

International Nurses and Midwives Day is celebrated annually on 12 May, and this year the North-West University (NWU) paid tribute to all nurses for the key role they play in society, and especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Student Life shows appreciation

The Student Life department on the Mahikeng Campus celebrated the day by reaching out to the nurses at the Health Centre to show appreciation for the work they are doing.
