Theology reunion aims to foster long-lasting connections

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Theology organised a special alumni reunion on 10 May 2023 at the Mahikeng Campus.

The purpose of this event was to foster connections among the faculty's alumni, current students and staff, and to encourage their involvement in the NWU Convocation.

During the gathering, Bongani Mahlangu, an executive committee member of the Convocation, addressed the attendees, highlighting the benefits of joining the convocation.

Meeting brings together unified communicators and audiovisual professionals

The inaugural meeting of those working in unified communications (integrators of various communication tools and services) and audiovisual disciplines was a resounding success.

More than 60 delegates from 19 universities and various vendors attended this special interest group* meeting on 13 and 14 April at the North-West University (NWU) Business School in Potchefstroom. The meeting presented a valuable opportunity for networking through shared experiences and insights.

History subject group hosts a seminar on Umkhonto we Sizwe

The subject group History at the North-West University (NWU) recently hosted Prof Thula Simpson, associate professor of history at the University of Pretoria, as part of the group’s seminar series.

Prof Simpson is also a British scholar who holds a PhD from Birkbeck, University of London, and is the author of the acclaimed book, Umkhonto we Sizwe: The ANC's Armed Struggle.

During the seminar Prof Simpson presented a paper titled “Umkhonto we Sizwe and its Historians: Action, Reaction and Counteraction, c. 1963 to the Present”.

NWU employee and team earn 5th place in national sailing competition

Nico Kroucamp, a senior information technology technician at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus, along with his two teammates, Dirk Manten and JJ van Niekerk, finished fifth out of 28 teams during the J22 class sailing competition, an annual event that took place from 28 to 30 April 2023.

Act NOW to stop loadshedding, say experts to mark Sputla’s 100 days

South Africa’s power crisis, exacerbated by frequent power cuts, came under the spotlight as the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Business School invited experts to mark the new electricity minister’s 100 days in office.

President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Kgosientsho “Sputla” Ramokgopa to the new post to focus on loadshedding. The president also declared a state of disaster to deal decisively with the electricity crisis; a decision he would later reverse in the face of legal challenges from various quarters.
