The Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU)will launch a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness campaign on 1September.
The campaign is a collaborative effort between the NWU’s Student Judicial Services, Employee Wellness and Alumni Relations, and will run until 11 October.

The ring road on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus was officially opened for use this week amidst fanfare and excitement. To celebrate the milestone, new ring road users were treated to muffins handed out by the NWU’s mascot Eagi.
The road forms part of the R15 600 000 worth project entailing 630 m of road plus a new parking area and stormwater services.
Africa is and will be the continent with the youngest population globally for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, many more people in Africa are living increasingly longer.
This finding is based on demographic trends on the continent and raises a host of complex issues for policymakers, according to Prof Jaco Hoffman, a professor of Socio-Gerontology in the Optentia research unit at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus.

North-West University (NWU) students recently participated in the Universum Career Test survey, which resulted in the planting of 2 353 trees. As part of a global reforestation initiative called "One Tree Planted", an amount (in dollars) was donated. The initiative aims to plant trees around the world.
The bodybuilding team from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus is brimming with pride after triumphing over their competitors at the recent University Sports South Africa (USSA) 2022 Athletics Championships that took place in Pretoria.
This is the fourth time the team scooped the top spot in the USSA championships. The competition saw eight of the 22-member team qualifying for the South African National Bodybuilding Championship that will take place from 2 to 4 September in Johannesburg.

The North-West University (NWU)’s Voices of the River choir can connect mind and soul through their music.
Established 11 years ago, this chorale group from the Vanderbijlpark Campus has offered students the opportunity to express themselves through music and has provided many with the means to escape negative societal influences such as substance abuse.
The group has gone from strength to strength and has achieved multiple successes under the leadership of former choir conductor Jafta Motsokwane.
North-West University (NWU)'s Professor of Journalism, Communication and Media Studies, and Director of Indigenous Language Media in Africa, Prof. Abiodun Salawu and Dr Israel Fadipe, a postdoctoral fellow in ILMA recently released two volumes of their work on Indigenous African Popular music. Titled, Indigenous African Popular music, Volume 1: Prophets and Philosophers and Indigenous African Popular Music, Volume 2: Social Crusades and the Future, the books illuminate the scholastic interest in indigenous African popular music.
North-West University (NWU) professor in practical theology, Prof Vhumani Magezi, was recently conferred a full professor status at an event held at the university’s Vanderbijlpark Campus.
During the event he also delivered his inaugural professorial lecture entitled “African publics and the role of Christianity in fostering ‘human-hood’: a public pastoral care proposition within African pluralistic contexts”.
