NWU’s Vanderbijlpark Campus honours administrative professionals

The North-West University's (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus recently celebrated Administrative Professionals' Day 2022 in recognition of the important contribution that administrative professionals make each year in the workplace.

The event held at the Small Lapa saw secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals from the different faculties, departments and divisions being treated to a full breakfast.

Organisational leaders can optimise their risk management investments by exploring new methods

All public and private organisations must deal with the systemic risks of our complex world. However, such inherent complex risks are difficult to manage even where significant resources have been utilised in implementing formal risk management frameworks and related processes.

It is therefore important for organisational leaders to actively explore new methods to enhance the contribution of risk management processes when they are trying to reach their objectives, says Prof Hermien Zaaiman from the Optentia research unit of the North-West University (NWU).

NWU's Vanderbijlpark Campus Enactus team president to compete for international honours

Jodey Adrian Foster, president of the Enactus team on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus, is over the moon. This is after Ford selected his team to attend the Enactus international competition in Puerto Rico.

The NWU participated in the national competition on 14 July at the Sandton Convention Centre. The Central University of Technology won the national competition and will represent South Africa and compete in the international competition in Puerto Rico.

Voyage of discovery starts with Ikateleng

Change is knocking at the door, loudly enough to draw attention, but yet too softly for everyone to hear. Across the country’s borders the final shots of a war are being fired. The previous regime is gasping for breath, because the world’s sanctions are choking it. The media are being gagged and traitors are being necklaced. It is a discordant symphony of chaos and riots, the conductors are limpet mines, letter bombs and comrades in arms. The prevailing state of emergency is depressing and everyone is spoiling for a fight.

NWU’s Vanderbijlpark Campus officially opens new ring road

The ring road on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus was officially opened for use this week amidst fanfare and excitement. To celebrate the milestone, new ring road users were treated to muffins handed out by the NWU’s mascot Eagi.

The road forms part of the R15 600 000 worth project entailing 630 m of road plus a new parking area and stormwater services.

How Africa can develop a “society for all ages”

Africa is and will be the continent with the youngest population globally for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, many more people in Africa are living increasingly longer.
 
This finding is based on demographic trends on the continent and raises a host of complex issues for policymakers, according to Prof Jaco Hoffman, a professor of Socio-Gerontology in the Optentia research unit at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus.

North-West University students contribute towards the planting of 2 353 trees

North-West University (NWU) students recently participated in the Universum Career Test survey, which resulted in the planting of 2 353 trees. As part of a global reforestation initiative called "One Tree Planted", an amount (in dollars) was donated. The initiative aims to plant trees around the world.

NWU’s bodybuilding team wins USSA championship

The bodybuilding team from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus is brimming with pride after triumphing over their competitors at the recent University Sports South Africa (USSA) 2022 Athletics Championships that took place in Pretoria.

This is the fourth time the team scooped the top spot in the USSA championships. The competition saw eight of the 22-member team qualifying for the South African National Bodybuilding Championship that will take place from 2 to 4 September in Johannesburg.
