The North-West University’s (NWU’s) School of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management on the Vanderbijlpark Campus recently organised an Industry Day to expose students to human resource management in the workspace.
According to the event organiser, Zama Chacha, the event was aimed at encouraging students to pursue careers human capital and creating lasting networks between industry and academia.
Industry experts from various companies such as Nedbank, Nando’s and Avatar Agency attended the occasion and shared their knowledge and experiences.
A range of topics were discussed, including human resource metrics and people analytics, investing in your talent and growth, creating a fulfilling work environment and culture, and human resources in the creative industry. Experts like Taeli Molotsi, Alicia Heyns, Tammy Lehnberg, and Itumeleng Phiri provided insights into the latest trends and practices in human resource management.
Zama says the day was a huge success.
"This was an excellent opportunity for students to learn from experts and to gain valuable insights into the real-world challenges of human resource management. It also helped them to understand the latest trends and practices in the field, which will be useful in their future careers.”
