The Arts and Culture office on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus recently hosted a Women’s Month celebration event themed “My sister’s keeper”.
The purpose of the event was to celebrate women and the importance of mental health. Discussions focused on the importance of therapy, self-love, sharing personal experiences on mental health, spirituality, self-confidence and taking charge.
Scoring in the 95th minute of the game through a header by Kgopotso Moshapo after a well-taken corner, the North-West University (NWU) Eagles secured victory against the Central University of Technology (CUT) in the fourth round of the Varsity Football tournament.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Indigenous Language Media in Africa (ILMA) research entity hosted a hybrid public lecture on 3 August 2023 as part of its Annual Public lecture series.
Prof Toyin Omoyeni Falola, holder of the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at the University of Texas in the United States, gave the lecture on the Mahikeng Campus.
The topic of the lecture was “Communication, media, culture, and evolving trends in the world of indigenous languages”.
Following a goalless draw in their first match against the University of Johannesburg during the opening round of Varsity Football, the North-West University (NWU) triumphed with a score of 3-0.
Entering the game with a single-minded focus to secure victory against VUT, their initial attempt at netting a goal materialised just five minutes into the first half – only to be thwarted by the vigilant VUT goalkeeper.
