Alumnus crowned Miss Cosmo South Africa 2024

North-West University (NWU) alumnus and PhD student in human resource management, Lebohang Raputsoe, was recently crowned Miss Cosmo South Africa 2024.

She represented South Africa internationally at the prestigious Miss Cosmo International pageant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, that took place from 15 September to 6 October 2024.

This pageant, founded by Unimedia, celebrates impactful beauty that transcends appearance, emphasising empowerment, unity, and positive global change under the slogan "Impactful Beauty”.

BEd alumni reunion strengthens the NWU community

The importance of alumni involvement in shaping the future of the North-West University (NWU) and ensuring its transformation was stressed during a recent reunion for BEd alumni.

Itumeleng Komane, a graduate of the North-West University (NWU) Vanderbijlpark Campus and a dedicated teacher at the Sunrise View Secondary School, recently achieved a significant milestone by securing the top position in the prestigious Excellence in Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning category at the National Teaching Awards.

Alumnus honoured with top industrial engineering award for his work in agriculture

North-West University (NWU) alumnus Chris van Dyk recently received the Southern African Institute for Industrial Engineering’s (SAIIE’s) Best Industrial Engineering Practitioner - Employer's Choice Award.

This award highlights his contributions to the field of agriculture and the respect he has earned from peers and employers as business analyst at Taaibosch Piggery.

Another successful BMI Day for the Vanderbijlpark Campus

The North-West University's (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus hosted BMI Day, an annual event organised by the Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics (CBMI) on 14 August 2024.

Since its inception in 2022, BMI Day has grown into a tradition, bringing together current students and accomplished alumni, and – for the first time this year – high-achieving Grade 11 and 12 learners from nearby schools.

Alumnus turns challenges into beats

Thato Rantekane, better known as DJ Ooh Shucks, started his journey at the North-West University (NWU) in 2017. Like many students, he faced some bumps along the way, and in 2019, things got so tough that he had to step away from his studies. However, what seemed like the end became an essential new chapter for Thato.
