Vodacom's Africa Hack-alympics 2024 is gearing up for its highly anticipated finale, and it's all set to be hosted by North-West University (NWU) alumnus and Vodacom cluster specialist Tutu Kgobane.
Taking place from 23 to 24 April in South Africa, the event promises to be a showcase of intense coding, problem-solving and innovation.
North-West University (NWU) alumnus Amogelang Mokonyane is one of 16 Lead Multipliers participating in the Teachers CAN Multiplier Programme.
Teachers CAN aims to create a network of young teachers across South Africa, empowering them to have a significant impact on the education sector's quality and development. By fostering collaboration and community engagement, its Fellowship and Multiplier programmes seek to empower educators to drive positive change within their schools and communities.
To assist struggling final-year students at North-West University (NWU), the Alumni Relations office hosted various events and successfully raised R90 000. This helps students with outstanding debts of R5 000 or less to clear their financial obligations and graduate in 2024.
The cheque was presented to Prof Sonia Swanepoel, deputy vice-chancellor for community engagement and Mahikeng Campus operations, during the staff year-end function on 24 November 2023.

His film War Dogs and I, which tells the gripping story of Kobus Olivier who refused to leave his four dogs behind as war broke out in Ukraine, has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature, while the inspirational Against All Odds: The Alwyn Uys Story, has been nominated for Best Achievement in Cinematography – Documentary.
