NWU student investigates indigenous precautions for the safe use of plant medicine

Simangaliso Lesley Mashego, a master’s student in Indigenous Knowledge Systems at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng, is doing research about safety measures employed by a rural Khoi-San community for commonly used medicinal plants as a way to improve health care in South Africa.

NWU PhD student presents exciting research to combat protein energy malnutrition

Adegboyega Taofeek Tope, a PhD student in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences of the North-West University (NWU), received the first prize in two thematic areas for the best oral presentation during the 21st Symposium of the International Association of Research Scholars and Fellows (IARSAF).

Capacitating small-scale farmers is cattle project’s purpose

A 10-year-old partnership between the North-West University (NWU), Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is going strong, continuing to produce good results for small-scale farmers. Launched in 2007, the North West Nguni Cattle Development Project is the province’s contribution to the ongoing national drive to capacite small-scale farmers.
