Kamogelo Mongale, a student at North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus, is gearing up to represent the university in karate at the upcoming FISU World University Games in Brazil.

Learning of his selection during the University Sports South Africa competitions, Kamogelo, who is pursuing a BSc in computer sciences and mathematics, was thrilled at the opportunity. "I was excited and looking forward to the challenge ahead," he said, acknowledging the significance of representing his university on the global stage.

The FNB North-West University (NWU) Eagles booked their place in the 2026 Varsity Cup Final in emphatic fashion, dismantling FNB Maties 50 – 10 in a blockbuster semi-final fixture at the Fanie du Toit Sportsgrounds on Monday, 6 April. The dominant victory extends the Eagles’ unbeaten home run and avenges their 26 – 30 defeat to Maties in their round-six clash at the Danie Craven Stadium on 23 March.

Special moment for dean as daughter graduates in programme she championed

Twelve years ago, Prof. Liezl van Dyk, executive dean of the Faculty of Engineering, came to the North-West University (NWU) on a mission: to play a central role in developing industrial engineering as an impactful discipline at the university. Her daughter, Karla, was 10 years old at the time. Now, on 31 March this year, Prof. van Dyk experienced the fruits of her labour first-hand when Karla graduated as an industrial engineer.

Inter-Res Tournament will promote safety, unity and inclusion

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus officially launched its highly anticipated Inter-Res Tournament, ushering in a season of competition, social awareness and strengthened student unity.

The Inter-Res League officially kicks off in the third week of March and will run until August. This year’s tournament will feature soccer, netball and e-sports, with each residence fielding teams to represent their communities.

Fake news alert: Unfounded and malicious allegations about Christianity at the NWU

Once again, the North-West University (NWU) must categorically refute and reject the falsehoods spread through voicemails regarding the status of Christianity across its campuses and facilities including residences. The latest voicemail that we have been alerted about is from someone informing a pastor by the name of Christo and the Bethuel Network. Previously, a ‘student’ named “Mira” distributed a similar voicemail in 2023 and 2025.
