Bridging the digital divide one township at a time

As the youngest-ever CEO of Project Isizwe  – the innovative Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) behind Africa’s most successful free Wi-Fi network – Dudu Mkhwanazi (26) has her sights set on bridging the digital divide in South Africa.
More so, she is advising all South Africans to step-up and do their bit to increase internet access to low-income communities.

CTL committed to professional academic development at NWU

It is all systems go for newly appointed academic staff at the North-West University (NWU). The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is readying a brand new induction programme on all three campuses of the NWU. Staff members in Potchefstroom started with the programme on 22 January 2018, those in Vanderbijlpark on 23 January, and staff members in Mahikeng kicked-off on 24 January 2018.

NWU’s IT excellence ensures optimal speed

Internet speed at the North-West University (NWU) are among the fastest in South Africa. That’s according to the IT news website MyBroadband, which rated the NWU as the university with the second fastest internet in the country for October. As if that wasn’t enough, the university was also credited with having the fourth fastest internet among South African organisations of all types.

Demi-Leigh crowned Miss Universe

NWU alumna Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been crowned as the new Miss Universe. On Sunday night in Las Vegas the 22-year-old beauty and current Miss South Africa beat more than 90 participants from across the globe to be named the first South African to hold this prestigious title since Margaret Gardiner 39 years ago.
