NWU hosts Curro Esports Indaba 2024

Curro is the leading independent school network that offers a range of options for parents who are looking for independent schooling, and the North-West University (NWU) had the privilege of hosting the second Curro esports Indaba, which ran from Thursday, 29 February until Saturday, 3 March 2024.

The conference was organised by Curro esports in partnership with Acer for Education, and the NWU sponsored the use of the facilities on the Potchefstroom Campus, while the African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) was the main service provider for the practical workshops.

Public lecture explores embracing the technological revolution for positive organisational pratices

Prof Llewellyn van Zyl, extraordinary professor at the North-West University's (NWU’s) Optentia research unit, recently delivered a public lecture titled "Embracing the technological revolution".

Prof Van Zyl, a positive psychologist specialising in developing, implementing and evaluating positive psychological interventions, explored the concept of Positive Organisational Psychology (POP) and its potential to reshape the discourse of the discipline.

Fortress Fanie a nest of points for NWU Eagles

The NWU Eagles’ hiccup against the Shimlas a week ago has been followed by a refreshing gulp of points against Wits at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds on Monday, 11 March.

The Eagles lit up Potchefstroom with seven tries against the visitors from Johannesburg for a resounding 51-22 win to temporarily erase memories of their 35-26 reverse in Bloemfontein.

Memorandum of understanding signed to foster joint initiatives

The North-West University (NWU) and the Public Service Education and Training Authority (PSETA) commenced discussions to enter into a formal collaboration to build the skills capabilities within the public service sector and fulfil both parties’ constitutional and statutory obligations.

On Thursday, 7 March 2024 delegates from the NWU and the PSETA met at the Potchefstroom Campus and shared their insights and perspectives regarding ways in which they can enhance their partnership and achieve mutually beneficial goals and objectives.

Renowned astronomer to talk about asteroid threats and strategies for Earth's defense

The North-West University's (NWU’s) Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences will host a guest lecture on 20 March 2024, featuring distinguished astronomer and extraordinary professor, Prof Don Kurtz.

Prof Kurtz, an A1-rated professor based in the United Kingdom, will delve into the intriguing topic of "Impact!" during his lecture.

Celebrating 27 years of cooperation

North-West University (NWU) academic Kgame Molope represented the South African Chapter of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Academic Group (SA-IORAG) at the celebration of International IORA Day at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

The event, taking place from 7 to 8 March, marked the 27th anniversary of IORA’s establishment. Themed "Enhancing a sustainable Indian Ocean for future generations: our ocean our life", the event reflected on IORA's achievements since its inception on 7 March 1997, driven by the vision of former President Nelson Mandela.

Prof Mnisi selected to attend agriculture, nutrition and health training programme

Prof Kenny Mnisi, a North-West University (NWU) academic in the School of Agricultural Sciences, has been accepted to attend the Agriculture, Nutrition and Health (ANH) Academy Training of Trainers Programme.

The first training workshop will take place from 18 to 22 March 2023 in Stellenbosch.

The Agriculture, Nutrition and Health (ANH) Academy is a global community of interdisciplinary researchers, practitioners and policymakers working on agriculture and food systems for improved nutrition and health, with more than 9 000 members from 145 countries.
