Flexibility and staying positive are key to boosting tourism

A North-West University (NWU) academic at the School of Tourism Management is calling for fresh and innovative thinking to boost the local tourism sector, which has declined by almost 80% since 2019.

Prof Peet van der Merwe says there has recently been a slight increase in international visitors to South Africa, but nowhere near the volumes needed to boost tourism.

NWU to host colloquium on decolonising Christianity

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Faculty of Theology will be hosting a virtual colloquium on 8 September 2021 on decolonising Christianity and its implications for preparing future ministers.

According to Prof Emmanuel Mgqwashu, CTL’s director for faculty teaching and learning support, one cannot ignore how both the oppressed and the oppressor have used Christianity in the past to justify opposing beliefs and actions in a post-colonial, post-apartheid and post-conflict context.

NWU female coach is breaking stereotypes in football

Football administration and coaching have long been dominated by men all around the world, but the winds of change are blowing. Recently more women have entered this male-dominated sport, either as administrators or coaches.

One such shining star is Azania Amogelang Moshushu, head coach of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) women’s team. She holds a BSc degree in human movement and sports science and, after obtaining her first coaching licence (Introduction to coaching development), she received the Central African Football (CAF) C licence for coaching.
