The North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng produced its first group of graduates who graduated with a Bachelor in Indigenous Knowledge Systems (BIKS) degree during the recent autumn graduation ceremony. This group is also the first BIKS graduates in Africa.

Youth unemployment remains a highly contentious and multifaceted issue in South Africa. In fact, after the release of the latest figures – that show that about 48 percent of South Africans between 15 and 34 were unemployed in the third quarter of 2016 – experts have been quoted in the media as stating that the situation has now reached a “chronic” state.  

Prof Linda du Plessis, acting rector of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark, recently acted as key note speaker at the 2017 PMR Awards ceremony held at the Riverside Hotel in Vanderbijlpark. 

The subject group Theology and Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark recently hosted a public lecture about the link between identity and race.

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senzeni Zokwana, conveyed a message of hope and prosperity when he recently visited the North-West University's (NWU’s) SUNfarming project at its campus in Potchefstroom.

The North-West University School of Business and Governance (NWU SBG) hosted a workshop on research collaboration for African universities as part of the Organisation Research Culture in African Universities (ORCA) project from 20 to 22 April 2017 until 22 April 2017 in Mahikeng.

The North-West University (NWU) has produced one of Africa’s youngest female PhD graduates. Musawenkosi “Musa” Saurombe received her PhD in Industrial Psychology at the university`s campus in Mahikeng on 25 April 2017.

Absa Bank has donated R7 million to the North-West University 9NWU) as part of a scholarship programme that will increase access to tertiary education for young people. The donation will be used to provide scholarships to deserving and needy students.

The North-West University‘s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng, in conjunction with the South African Board for People Practices, (SABPP) hosted a Talent Management Awards ceremony on 20 April 2017 at Leopard Park.

Good work never goes unnoticed. This was emphasised during the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Institutional Teaching Excellence Awards ceremony (ITEA) which took place on 20 April in Potchefstroom.
