Prof Alta Schutte, a biomedical scientist and research professor at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART), has become a familiar name in the international sphere of biomedical research of high blood pressure or hypertension.

The management of the North-West University (NWU) is satisfied with the process of registering first-year students across its three campuses in Mahikeng, Potchefstroom and Vanderbijlpark. The first-year target for the 2019 academic year is 9 400, and up until today, more than 7 000 students have already registered. The university had received just over 52 000 applications for the 2019 academic year.

Like in the past, the North-West University (NWU) will again in 2019 be bursting at the seam with first-year students. Just over 52 000 applications were received for the 2019 academic year, of which just more than 16 600 prospective students were provisionally accepted.

Those who have the privilege of bringing a child into this life want to ensure that their baby receives the best possible healthcare and that abnormal health issues are diagnosed and addressed as soon as possible if this occurs.

The Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) recently awarded Dr Stefan Linde, senior lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences and member of the Occupational Hygiene and Health Research Initiative (OHHRI), as well as one of his master’s students, Robyn Hyslop, for their research excellence in the field of occupational hygiene.
