We've recently celebrated International Mother Language Day (IMLD). The theme for this year’s IMLD is Towards sustainable futures through multilingual education, which places the role of educational institutions in promoting mother-tongue education firmly in the spotlight.

The Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) recently welcomed acclaimed motswako rapper, Motlapele Morule – popularly known as Mo’ Molemi, as a student.

2017 saw the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) offering a one-year full-time honours programme in logistics.

Two Social Work students from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium is currently doing their third year internship under the watchful eye of Prof. Ansie Fouché, at the Department of Social Work in the Faculty Humanities on the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU).  Paulien Heylen and Elisa Vanderwegen will spend the next three months in the employment of Child Welfare, Vanderbijlpark. 

Losing a limb is certainly a traumatic experience. Making matters wors is that it usually goes with astronomical medical bills. Although the last thing that you would want to worry about is having sufficient funds to afford a prosthetic limb, this is a great concern for most people who have lost a limb.

On the 28 February 2017 Dr Philden Ndlela, a lecturer in English Literature on the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU), will be presenting a public lecture in commemoration of Black History Month at the Claflin University in South Carolina in the United States.

Ms Dipuo Peters, the national Minister of Transport, appointed Dr Kesolefetse Olivia Lefenya, a senior lecturer in Public Law at the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) and admitted advocate of the High Court of South Africa, as chairperson of the National Traffic Law Review Committee.

The National Research Foundation (NRF) has awarded Prof Eno Ebenso, acting vice-rector for research and planning at the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU), a B3 rating for the international recognition he has attained in chemistry.

“The year is certainly off to a running start. January is already something of the past, our registration process went well and our classes commenced successful and without any incidents or disruptions.”

The Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU)  held its official campus opening to kick-start the 2017 academic year on 10February 2017. The  Great Hall was the place to be as students, staff, members of the community and management attended the event.
