The new academic year is off to a good start with enthusiastic students registering on all three of the North-West University’s (NWU) campuses. As on 26 January nearly 7 000 first years have already enrolled. The NWU’s target for first-year enrolments for 2017 is 8 894.

The North-West University (NWU) has once again showed why it’s a scientific force to be reckoned with, when it walked away with a special achievement at the annual South African Science Forum.

As of 2017 a new star will join the Industrial Engineering galaxy. The North-West University's (NWU's) School for Industrial Engineering now shines with new light alongside nearby departments at the University of Pretoria, Stellenbosch University and Wits University.

The sixth President of the United States, John Quincy Adams, was once quoted as saying that true leaders are people who inspire others through their actions: “Leaders are individuals who inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and ultimately become more.”

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) granted the NWU School of Business and Governance (NWU SBG) international accreditation for a period of five years – the longest period for which AMBA accredits MBA degrees.

“Whereas efficient learners are reflective, strategic and cognitively engaged, struggling learners have difficulties in self-regulating their learning.” This according to Prof Marco Hessels, extraordinary professor at the Optentia Research Focus Area on the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU).

The director of the  Centre for Applied Radiation Science and Technology (CARST) on the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU), Prof Victor Tshivhase, was recently nominated and unanimously appointed to serve as a member on the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) Senior Advisory Panel.

In a week’s time the North-West University’s Vanderbijlpark Campus (NWU Vaal) will be welcoming the new intake of first year students for the 2017 academic year. 

The Optentia Research Focus Area on the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) already has a full schedule planned for the first quarter of 2017.
