New-style star accretion bursts dazzle astronomers at NWU and around the world

The meaning of the term “accretion burst” is expanding. In a rare glimpse at how high-mass stars grow even larger, an astronomer from the North-West University (NWU) has been part of a 15-country research team that has observed star bursts – or growth spurts – previously unknown to humankind.

NWU specialist receives prestigious innovation management award

FR Bezuidenhout, a senior commercialisation specialist at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Technology Transfer and Innovation Support (TTIS) office, was recently awarded the Early Career Excellence in Innovation Management award by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA).

NWU installs Dr Anna Mokgokong as its third chancellor

The North-West University (NWU) installed Dr Anna Mokgokong, renowned business leader and entrepreneur, as its third chancellor during a prestigious event at the Feather Hill venue in Potchefstroom on 20 November. As chancellor she will serve as titular head of the NWU. All qualifications awarded by the university are formally conferred by the chancellor.
