New mothers at the North-West University (NWU) returning from maternity leave will no longer have to struggle to find a place to express their breastmilk. With August being Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the NWU has officially opened its first breastfeeding room on the campus in Potchefstroom.

Joné Kruger (19), a pharmacy student from the North West University (NWU) is the new African Heptathlon champion. She won the title at the recent Junior African Games in Tlemcen, Algeria.The Junior African Games are held every two years for African athletes under the age of 20.

The exciting annual mock trials of the North-West University (NWU), hosted by the Faculty of Law on the campus in Potchefstroom with the support of Juta, started with the qualifying rounds on 19 July, with the finals to follow on 15 August.

“More and more students are realising that they can’t simply pass their degree and find a job immediately upon graduation as was traditionally the case. Due to economic constraints and increasing competition within the formal employment sector, the so-called normal path to growing a career has been replaced by a more self focused and accountable career management process.“

The Sol Plaatje residence at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng recently unveiled its new name during an official ceremony hosted by the campus and students who serve on the residence councils.
