On 28 August 2021, North-West University (NWU) alumnus Ofentse Rabaji walked away with a 2021 SA Heroines Award in the category Man of Honour.

Students rank the North-West University (NWU) among the cream of the crop of South African universities when it comes to student experience and remote learning. This is according to the newly released StuDocu World University Ranking 2021.

“Teaching reading is rocket science.” This quote by Louisa Moats underlines the importance of reading literacy, and that is why researchers and teacher educators from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Education are taking the lead to promote reading literacy in the foundation phase.

To encourage more young girls to study towards science, technology, engineering and mathematic (STEM) qualifications, the Faculty of Engineering at the North-West University (NWU) kicked off its Femmengineering initiative in 2015.

The THE World University Rankings have again, like in last year’s ranking, placed the North-West University (NWU) among the top six universities in South Africa. Globally, the NWU is ranked between 501 and 600 out of more than 1 600 universities across 99 countries and regions that were evaluated for the 2022 rankings.

The South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) conference has, for many years, played a central role in bringing together the South African physics community, providing a venue for the dissemination of new findings, the fostering of research collaborations and the inspiration of students. 

The North-West University (NWU) Career Centre hosted its annual Entrepreneurship and Work Readiness seminars in virtual format from 23 to 27 August 2021. 

Using informal and interactive presentations, these annual seminars aim to equip NWU students with practical and useful information for a smooth transition from student life to work life. To ensure the Career Centre consistently deliver this offering even during the prolonged pandemic, these seminars were hosted virtually to keep NWU students up to date and relevant.
