GIFT goes international

A research team from the Global, Innovative, Forefront, Talent (GIFT) Management research niche area in the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (FEMS) recently traveled to Hungary to collaborate with the University of Miskolc.

The trip was financed by the European Union’s Erasmus funding programme which provides for lecturers and students from two countries to visit host universities in a mutually beneficial exchange programme.

Hungarian education recognises the value of talent management, and it actively supports and nurtures students in discovering their skills and talents, fostering an environment conducive to achieving excellence.

This has yielded impressive results, with several students emerging as high achievers during their time at Miskolc. Many of these accomplished individuals go on to assume influential positions within the community, while others excel as proficient scientists, showcasing the long-lasting impact of their education at the school.

During the NWU team’s visit they explored various collaborative opportunities and relationships through high-profile meetings and workshops to learn more about the University of Miskolc’s approaches.

Discussions were held on the possibility of joint supervision of students and the enrollment of some NWU students. The development of a hybrid working environment was a focal point, with discussions revolving around the potential for online lectures and supervision. This presented exciting possibilities for expanding programmes at the NWU.

The NWU delegation also attended a conference that focused on sustainability. It served as a platform to showcase innovative ideas and solutions for environmental conservation, addressing crucial aspects such as waste management, soil preservation, and water conservation, with an overarching goal to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

The trip was a success, enriching the delegates both academically and personally. It is hoped that this initial collaborative effort will pave the way for countless opportunities in the near future.
