Mini-Cricket Festival bigger and better than ever

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus was abuzz with excitement as it recently hosted the 12th annual NWU Mini-Cricket Festival at the NWU Cricket Clubhouse. With over 560 enthusiastic children aged six to nine from more than 17 schools participating, the event once again proved to be one of the most anticipated youth sports occasions in the region.

Vanderbijlpark Campus hosts “Campus Wedding” to celebrate cultural integration

The Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU) staged a colourful and symbolic “Campus Wedding” on Friday, 26 September, bringing together staff, students and alumni in a celebration of cultural diversity and unity.

The event formed part of the annual Culture Integration Day at the NWU, observed across all three campuses, but this year took on a unique theme: a cross-cultural wedding symbolising the union of South African and international traditions.

Makhotso Mosikidi turns everyday heroes into a celebration

When most people wake up, go to work and tackle life’s daily challenges, they rarely expect recognition. Yet, for Makhotso Mosikidi, senior administrative officer in Student Life at the North-West University (NWU), these everyday acts of resilience are nothing short of heroic.

A mother of two young daughters, working three jobs while pursuing an MBA, Makhotso knows first-hand the balancing act of life. “I have met countless people who simply show up every day, despite the hardships, without expecting acknowledgement. They are the real superheroes,” she says.

Dr Lucé Pretorius honoured with national early-career academic award

The North-West University (NWU) is celebrating a remarkable achievement, with Dr Lucé Pretorius, senior lecturer in Social Work at the Vanderbijlpark Campus, having received the prestigious Early Career Academic Award for 2025.

The accolade was presented at the annual Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions (ASASWEI) Conference, held from 10 to 12 September at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

Multiliteracies in focus at International Literacy Day celebration

The North-West University (NWU) Library and Information Service (LIS), in partnership with the Faculty of Humanities, recently hosted a dynamic and thought-provoking virtual celebration of International Literacy Day under the global theme “Promoting literacy in the digital era”.
