The good rains that have fallen over the last month in many areas of South Africa have caused ideal conditions for an outbreak of Rift Valley Fever (RVF).

On the African continent South Africa is among the worst hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

A North-West University (NWU) academic with research interests in the fields of migration and clinical psychology, Prof Erhabor Idemudia, has traversed six European countries to highlight the plight of this vulnerable group and to seek solutions.

Over the past few years, there have been numerous reports in the media of learners physically assaulting, stabbing and even shooting their teachers.

“Individuals with comorbidities such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and sendentarism, are at high risk of being severely ill when contracting Covid-19,” says Prof Ushotanefe Useh, acting director of the research entity Lifestyle Diseases at the North-West University (NWU).
