The journey of a law student is undoubtably challenging and short, and their time at the North-West University (NWU) has prepared them for the opportunities and obstacles that lie ahead.

Having arrived here a few years ago, they are about to leave and embark on different journeys to try and find appropriate solutions to the issues the global community is currently facing.

On Thursday evening, 12 October, the Faculty of Law hosted a farewell dinner with the theme “Law as a superpower” for the final-year students.

The Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Humanities at the North-West University (NWU) jointly hosted the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum on the evening of Wednesday, 27 September.

The event centred around AI-generated knowledge and its implications for copyright, originality, and embodiment.

North-West University (NWU) academic from the Faculty of Law, Prof Klaus Beiter recently presented a talk at the Annual Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) Network Conference in Bilbao, Spain.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Human rights defenders under siege”.

Prof Beiter says human rights defenders are people who, individually or with others, act to promote or protect human rights in a peaceful manner, often risking their lives or livelihoods.
