On 26 September, the Alumni Office, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, hosted a memorable reunion for BEd alumni, bringing together graduates from various years.

The event was an opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share their professional journeys and reflect on their time at the university.

Alumnus clinches top position at National Teaching Awards

Itumeleng Komane, a graduate of the North-West University (NWU) Vanderbijlpark Campus and a dedicated teacher at the Sunrise View Secondary School, recently achieved a significant milestone by securing the top position in the prestigious Excellence in Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning category at the National Teaching Awards.

Researchers across the faculties at the NWU continue to produce exciting work in their fields of expertise.

We introduce the work of two researchers - Prof Muchativugwa Liberty Hove, deputy director of the School of Language in Education, and Dr Wihan Pheiffer, senior lecturer at the DSI/NWU Preclinical Drug Development Platform (PCDDP).Tumi Ledwaba, a lecturer in History, and Prof Tycho Maas, extraordinary researcher in the School for Ancient Language and Text Studies.

Alumni honoured for outstanding teaching skills

Two alumni from the North-West University (NWU), Tumelo Malebelela and Mapule Sechogo, have been recognised for their exceptional teaching abilities.

Tumelo was honoured at the Ngaka Modiri Molema district Teaching Awards and will represent the district at the Provincial Awards in August 2024.His dedication to education was previously acknowledged when he received the Teacher’s Award in the Excellence in Secondary Teaching category during the North West Provincial Teaching Awards in 2023.

Celebrating 20 years of excellence with the BEd class

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus was alive with excitement and nostalgia as the BEd class of 2004 gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone on Wednesday, 26 June.

The theme for the day was "Celebrating 20 Years of Delivering Excellence in the Education Sector," and it set the stage for an inspiring and heartfelt reunion, marking two decades of dedication, growth, and impact in education.

Faculty of Education’s first annual Sports Day: A huge triumph

The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Education on the Potchefstroom Campus gathered for its first annual Sports Day on 28 May 2024.

This event – aimed at fostering team spirit and providing a day of fun away from the usual hustle and bustle of the office – was held at the Fanie du Toit sportsgrounds: Tawana soccer fields.

Academic and support staff participated with enthusiasm, making it a resounding success.

In line with its educational vision for 2025, the North-West University's (NWU’s) Faculty of Education recently organised a professional development campus to provide students with a deeper insight into the demands of their future careers.

Hosted by esteemed educators and professionals in the field, the camp sought to immerse students in real classroom scenarios and equip them with the necessary skills and mindset for success in the job market.
