The North-West University (NWU) honoured Prof Monica Ferreira with an honorary doctorate on 22 May 2019 as the most prominent first-generation exponent of research on and the development of a policy on ageing in Africa.
The management of the North-West University (NWU) is pleased with the recent announcement by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) that the NWU Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme has received full accreditation. The CHE’s response bears relation to the submission of the NWU Progress Report submitted to them in October 2018.
On 10 May 2017, the North-West University (NWU) received allegations of plagiarism against some of its academics from the Council on Higher Education (CHE). These allegations were viewed in a very serious light, especially when media articles were published in July of the same year that implicated other members of staff than those the university became aware of through the CHE. Vigorous processes were instituted to determine the authenticity of the allegations.
The North-West University (NWU) celebrated its star lecturers during its Institutional Teaching Excellence Awards ceremony (ITEA). This annual event took place on 14 March at the Snowflake venue in Potchefstroom.
It is with great sadness that the North-West University (NWU) community learnt about the passing of Prof Melville Saayman on 14 March at the age of 53.
