Mother Language Day celebration – this is how the NWU builds for the future

We've recently celebrated International Mother Language Day (IMLD). The theme for this year’s IMLD is Towards sustainable futures through multilingual education, which places the role of educational institutions in promoting mother-tongue education firmly in the spotlight.

NWU student finalist in Mr Junior SA

A student from the North-West University (NWU) and his friend are the only two young men from the North West Province who are finalists in the Mr Junior South Africa Competition. Daniel Asiwe and his friend, Mandla Mbotho, share a passion for community service that they have learnt from their parents. Both are also finalists in the Face of South Africa Competition.

Belgium Social Work students at home at NWU Vaal

Two Social Work students from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium is currently doing their third year internship under the watchful eye of Prof. Ansie Fouché, at the Department of Social Work in the Faculty Humanities on the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU).  Paulien Heylen and Elisa Vanderwegen will spend the next three months in the employment of Child Welfare, Vanderbijlpark.

NWU academic appointed chairperson of National Traffic Law Review Committee

Ms Dipuo Peters, the national Minister of Transport, appointed Dr Kesolefetse Olivia Lefenya, a senior lecturer in Public Law at the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) and admitted advocate of the High Court of South Africa, as chairperson of the National Traffic Law Review Committee.
