The subject group Creative Writing of the North-West University (NWU) took on a Byderhand project together with the Pioneer School for the visually impaired in Worcester. This project was introduced in an excellent manner in Worcester on 30 August 2018 with the opening of the multisensory garden at the Pioneer School.

Did you know that South Africa has alarmingly low levels of entrepreneurial activity in spite of its high unemployment rate? One of the reasons for this negative trend can be ascribed to a fear of failure – or simply put: a lack of preparatory entrepreneurial skills training.

 

The North-West University (NWU) will play a prominent role in establishing a new International Centre for Genomic Research in Neuromuscular Disease, and South Africa’s participation in this virtual centre. “The programming language R is the present and future of statistical programming.” Dr Emir Efendić, postdoctoral researcher from Eindhoven University in the Netherlands, will attempt to convince his audience of this statement during a workshop hosted by the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Optentia research focus area in Vanderbijlpark on 19 September 2018.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Optentia research focus area in Vanderbijlpark will be hosting Prof Hannu Savolainen from the Department of Education at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland. During his visit, he will deliver a lecture on School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Interventions (SWPBIS) on 12 September 2018.

On 18 September 2018, Dr George Leeson, director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, will act as guest lecturer at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Optentia research focus area in Vanderbijlpark.

The 32^nd General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) will be hosted on African soil for the first time in 2024 with the help from two astronomers of the North-West University (NWU).
