As part of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Language Awareness Week, library staff at the campus in Mahikeng recently attended a presentation on a study titled "The linguistic-cultural impact of Boloka: are all NWU official languages equal?"Boloka is the NWU institutional repository that hosts electronic theses, dissertations, journals, and other published and unpublished documents written by NWU staff.

In line with the vision of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management (UESM) in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, experts are conducting research that is not only fundamental and applied, but also market-orientated.

Experience has shown that large numbers of people who start a master’s or a PhD degree seldom finish their degrees within the budgeted time frames of the respective programmes. In some instances postgraduate students fail to complete their studies in entirety and are forced to leave academia empty-handed and discouraged. 

Academic staff members from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences recently joined the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences’ newly established Education Research Group.

This year more than 700 Grade 12 learners will take part in the annual Winter School initiative of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Science Centre on the campus in Mahikeng, whose Techno Youth Programme equips learners with computer, communication and problem-solving skills, has been watching with pride as these skills are put to practical use.

On 11 June 2018 the executive mayor of the Emfuleni Local Municipality will deliver his State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) in Vanderbijlpark. Emfuleni is one of South Africa’s defaulting councils, with the municipality not having had a clean audit in about five years.

Former North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute player, Orebotse “Bobo” Mongae, is making a move to the South African Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) Baroka FC in the coming season.
