The North-West University’s (NWU’s) first Biennial Research and Innovation conference promises to be an event like no other. The conference is for researchers, by researchers and with researchers, and is a brand-new highlight on the NWU’s calendar.
The importance of research and innovation, not only as an integral part of every university but also in finding solutions to challenges that South Africa and indeed the world faces, can never be overstated. This is why this conference should not be missed.
NWU researchers will have the opportunity to share, learn and exchange all the great research and innovation work that has brought institutional, national and international awards to the university’s researchers. Faculty exhibitions will also be on display throughout the three-day conference.
The theme for this year’s event is: Positioning the NWU for research and innovation excellence, visibility and impact: maximising successes, strengths and opportunities.
His Majesty Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Nation and chancellor of the NWU will deliver the inaugural opening address. Some of the eminent speakers are, among others, Prof Ahmed Bawa, chief executive officer of Universities South Africa, Ms Ruth Roberts-Chen from the Department of Higher Education and Training, Prof Jonathan Jansen, president of the Academy of Science of South Africa, and Mr Imraam Patel, deputy director-general of the Department of Science and Technology.
All NWU researchers are encouraged to register. The conference will take place at the Sanlam Auditorium on the NWU’s campus in Potchefstroom from 27 to 29 November 2018. For more information, phone Doret Kruger at 018 299 4933 or email doret.kruger@nwu.ac.za to register.
