Two books have just been published on the creation of the North-West University (NWU) in 2004. The first decade of the merged university is also covered.

Two honours students at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Centre for Applied Radiation Science and Technology, Koketso Kgorinyane and Pinkie Mereyotlhe, have been selected to visit Rosatom Nuclear Power Company in Russia for a week from 11 December 2017.

High school teacher Mr Ofentse Porogo has been named the best science master’s student at the North-West University (NWU). At the university’s recent annual research awards ceremony, Ofentse received the coveted S2A3 bronze medal, presented to the best master's student in a scientific discipline.

Two academics from the North-West University (NWU), Prof Munyaradzi Manjoro and Prof Alfred Henrico, received commendations during the National Excellence in Teaching Awards 2017 during the HELTASA Conference held from 21 to 24 November at the Durban University of Technology.

The North-West University (NWU) Council appointed Prof Marilyn Setlalentoa as the new deputy vice-chancellor for assigned functions and operations for its campus in Mahikeng during its meeting on 23 November. She is appointed for a term of five years.

The Council on Higher Education (CHE) has informed the North-West University (NWU) that the accreditation outcome of the review of the LLB programme has been revised from ‘Notice of withdrawal of Accreditation’ to ‘Reaccreditation subject to meeting specified conditions.’

Two North-West University (NWU) academics have been chosen for the South African Teaching Advancement at University (TAU) Fellowship Programme. The great honour of being selected by the TAU panel again confirms that the NWU’s academics have a well-deserved reputation for their expertise, hard work and dedication.

An inaugural lecture is an once-in-a-lifetime experience for an academic, but at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Health Sciences, five of these unique events have taken place in the space of just five months.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences again took top honours at this year’s Excellence in Research Awards on 27 October. The faculty won the titles of Most Productive Senior Researcher and Most Productive Junior Researcher, just as they did last year.

Successfully completing a qualification and graduating is a milestone many a person look forward to. On 12 October a total of 18 staff members from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campuses in Mahikeng, Potchefstroom and Vanderbijlpark celebrated the completion of their business administration course with a private graduation ceremony.
