With more than 42 years of experience in the academic sphere it is no surprise that Prof Susan Visser, former director of the School of Accounting Sciences, dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and acting vice-rector for research at the North-West University (NWU), has left a lasting impression with internal and external stakeholders.
Prof Elvis Fosso-Kankeu from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering walked away with the Engineering Research Capacity Development Award at the recent NSTF-South32 Awards.
It is a disturbing fact that approximately 61% of the North West population is classified as impoverished. This shocking figure is the biggest contributing factor to the inadequate wellness of communities in this province, and according to the government it is an important social, economic and political developmental challenge.
Traditionally, the 3D printing industry was a discipline dominated by men, but that did not discourage women from also stepping into the industry and standing their ground. In fact, at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Health Sciences, women are at the forefront of research in this regard.
