We live in a vast world of knowledge and yet many scientific fields predominantly emphasise the contributions of Western knowledge.

The Student Law Council of Potchefstroom will be hosting an online event with one of South Africa's leading prosecutors, Adv. Gerrie Nel.

All staff and students from across the three campuses are invited to join in and it will be held on the 26th May 2021 at 14:00 pm. 

Adv. Nel will be giving insight into his journey as a prosecutor as well as his challenges and his taking on high-profile cases. He will also touch on state and private prosecution and the aspirant prosecutor programme.

For many Covid-19 patients who experience breathing problems, the difference between life and death is access to working ventilators. During the Covid-19 pandemic, news reports have often highlighted the shortage of this lifesaving equipment and its related services – not only in South Africa, but also globally. This continues to be an issue of grave concern.

Race Awareness Week (RAW) is a week-long annual event at the North-West University (NWU), dedicated to raising awareness on the current discussions around race in South African society. The goal is to open discussions on history, current events and how we can progress in the future. International Nurses and Midwives Day is celebrated annually on 12 May, and this year the North-West University (NWU) paid tribute to all nurses for the key role they play in society, and especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Student Life shows appreciation

The Student Life department on the Mahikeng Campus celebrated the day by reaching out to the nurses at the Health Centre to show appreciation for the work they are doing.

The Faculty of Education of the North-West University (NWU) was selected as the preferred provider for presenting a unique Advanced Diploma in Education to school leaders in the Northern Cape.

The Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART) in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the North-West University (NWU) is doing its part to promote blood pressure awareness and measurement during the whole of May Measurement Month (MMM) and on World Hypertension Day on 17 May.

The North-West University (NWU) will again celebrate the remarkable achievements of its outstanding alumni during the seventh biennial Alumni Excellence Awards ceremony, which is set to take place in October this year.
