Welcome back, old friend

There was colour and sound and merriment until late and all of it for a good cause: welcome back RAG. From 28 to 30 July, Potchefstroom was buzzing with floats, and no cold weather could dampen the enthusiasm of the students from the North-West University.

It was admittedly the first time in the long history of RAG that this charity event was presented in winter – Covid’s fault – but nothing else about the event was tampered with.

Stars like Refentse, Francois van Coke, Karen Zoid and Die Heuwels Fantasties were responsible for two nights of great entertainment, and on the Saturday there was a float parade through the streets of Potch again.

“It is nice that students can come together again and that, no matter how difficult times are or how restricted our daily lives are, these students can show the community how much they are appreciated. Everyone gave more than their best and I still cannot believe how well it went,” says Ivan Beck, Campus Student Council (CSC) chairperson for RAG.

The overall goal of RAG is to collect money for more than 80 community projects
