Well, students who can’t provide a proper and nutritious meal for themselves every day, are being thrown a life-line thanks to an initiative by several role players.

If the electrifying encounter between the North-West University’s (NWU’s) football team and their host University of Fort Hare (UFH) on 27 July 2017 is anything to go by, the NWU has made its presence felt in this year’s Varsity Football tournament.

2017 is not only significant as it marks the start of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) renewed focus to become a unitary institution of superior academic excellence. It also marks the year in which students will have to make one of the most important choices ever – that of a future career and hence a field of study.

Refilwe Basimane, an alumna of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng, has recently been awarded an international scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in nuclear science and technology at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Enactus chapter on its campus in Mahikeng recently claimed top honours at the Enactus South Africa National Competition held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Next Thursday, 27 July 2017, will see the start of one of the most anticipated football tournaments yet. The 2017 Varsity football season will kick-off with the North-West University (NWU) taking on the University of Fort Hare in an away game hosted at Fort Hare’s Davidson Stadium in Alice in the Eastern Cape.

Lorato Modise, a PhD student in the Department of Biological Sciences on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng, is set to present a paper at the seventh Annual South African Young Scientists’ Conference. The conference will take place on 19 July 2017 at the Birchwood and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Johannesburg.

Nursing students from at least 14 South African universities and a Northern Cape-based nursing college recently converged on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng to discuss issues affecting the profession.

A firm foundation has been laid for the possible establishment of a veterinary school at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng. Once approved, it will be one of only two in the country. Prof Mulunda Mwanza, an associate professor and head of the School of Animal Health on the campus, has confirmed the awarding of European Union Erasmus Funding to the tune of 31 554 Euros.
