Staff and students of the North-West University (NWU) are mourning the untimely passing of Dr Andre Mellet (65), on Monday, 8 May 2017.

Researchers within the new research focus area of the North-West University (NWU), TELIT-SA, is hard at work to not only vest the entity but also to expand its reach and impact. Its latest endeavor entails an intercampus and inter-research support forum.

“A career fair offers university students a unique insight into the world of work, and the path that professionals took to reach their current level of employment. We, at the Career Centre, believe that these face-to-face interactions with future employers will inspire our students to not only make smart choices when it comes to internships and employment, but also motivate them to do their best in terms of their academic performance.”

A total of 1 400 students will graduate during the upcoming Autumn Graduation Ceremony of the North-West University’s (NWU) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

If teamwork is the ability to marry individual accomplishments to existing institutional goals, then the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark boasts with a dynamic ethos of collegiality and teamwork.

“The optimism that most children are born with – the joy of learning, playing and simply living when they are small – gradually diminishes for many learners. This happens if they sense that, no matter how much they try to do well in school, they can’t succeed.”
These are the words of Prof Hans Henrik Knoop, extraordinary professor at the Optentia Research Focus Area on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

Youth unemployment remains a highly contentious and multifaceted issue in South Africa. In fact, after the release of the latest figures – that show that about 48 percent of South Africans between 15 and 34 were unemployed in the third quarter of 2016 – experts have been quoted in the media as stating that the situation has now reached a “chronic” state.  

Prof Linda du Plessis, acting rector of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark, recently acted as key note speaker at the 2017 PMR Awards ceremony held at the Riverside Hotel in Vanderbijlpark.
