Vanderbijlpark Campus welcomes new director for student life

 The North-West University’s (NWU's) Vanderbijlpark Campus recently welcomed Chris Williams as the new director for student life.

This former Capetonian says he chose the NWU because it is regarded as one of the top universities as far as student life is concerned.

"Also, the NWU is an institution with values similar to my own. There is an organisation-person fit. Looking at the NWU’s vibrant student life, one cannot help to feel the liveliness and want to join in," he adds.

Upcoming international Kahoot! webinar to showcase the power of dynamic polling tools

North-West University (NWU) senior lecturer and charted accountant Kurt Naicker will be presenting at the international Kahoot! webinar for higher education on 21 February 2024 at 09:00 AM CST / 04:00 PM CET.

The webinar is titled "Elevate student engagement: Kahoot!'s dynamic polling tools" and will be hosted by Kahoot!.

Kurt says the webinar will showcase the power of dynamic polling tools designed to give every university community member a voice.

Vanderbijlpark Campus again named top higher education institution in Sedibeng district

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijilpark Campus has once again been recognised as the highest-rated institution for higher education at the prestigious 2023 PMR.africa Business Excellence Awards.

PMR.Africa is a leading South African consultancy and research company. It publishes a business journal, together with an online version, serving as a vehicle for sharing the results of its various surveys. Through these surveys companies and institutions with potential are identified and recognised for excellence across all industry sectors.

Academics gain insight into the internationalisation of higher education

North-West University (NWU) academics Prof Babs Surujlal, executive dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, and Prof Ephrem Redda, from the School of Management Sciences, recently participated in the 6th InterUni 2023 Forum of Internationalisation of Higher Education, organised by the WSB University in Poland.

The forum brought together participants from universities across the globe, representing a diverse and international spectrum of academic institutions.

Vanderbijlpark Young Alumni Chapter: empowering underprivileged students

Giving back to the community and supporting underprivileged individuals holds immense value in shaping a better future for all. The Young Alumni Chapter of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus showcased its commitment to making a difference by donating a significant sum of money towards the education fees of deserving graduates and the university’s Meal-a-Day programme.

This act of kindness took place during the campus’s recent year-end function.

Voices of the River Choir showcases their excellence.

The Voices of the River choir from the North-West University (NWU) recently participated in The Lengau Choral Music Association (LECMA) competition. They came second in the wafa wafa large category.

They performed an extract from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera, Macbeth, even though it is regarded as one of the most dramatic and vocally intensive operas in the world, they did it with ease.

This chorale group from the Vanderbijlpark Campus has gone from strength to strength under the baton of Calvin Mofokeng, who also won the award for Best Choir Conductor.
