US President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord earlier in the month was greeted with global dismay. In fact, both the United Nations (UN) and former President Barack Obama labelled the decision as a major setback.

Members of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark chapter of Enactus are walking proud and tall after advancing to the second round of the prestigious 2017 Harmony Local Economic Development Challenge.

Canoeists from across the region and members of the Watuni Canoe Club – situated at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark – took to the water on Saturday, 24 June 2017, in remembrance of the late Gerhard Nel.

They are society’s heroes.” These words by American author, Guy Kawasaki, rings true and when one considers the multi-faceted role of teachers it becomes clear that a teacher is not just an educator. A teacher impacts the lives of each learner entrusted to him/her on a unique and profound manner.

Radiyah Saloojee is living proof that an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving not only serves as a road marker on the journey to success, but also a stepping stone to accomplishment. For this 24-year old alumna of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark, each day represents a new opportunity to excel and in doing so, making the world a better place.

Gabi Hendrich,(37), a graphic and interior designer and the owner of Living Stones Talent Factory, describes her decision to become an entrepreneur as a gradual calling from God to which she answered yes. This is the story of her journey thus far.

A few months before graduating from university in 2003, Gabi started to apply for jobs in the corporate world with the intention of building a career in either graphic design or corporate communication. “God, however, had a different - the best - plan for my life,” says Gabi. She went to Taiwan to teach English for a year. This experience changed the course of her life. “In this vibrant, creative and industrious nation, the seed to start my own business was planted. It was, however, only seven years and a leap of faith later that LSTF was born in 2011.”

Dealing with work complexity has become a major development issue, especially when one considers the uncertain times in which leaders are expected to operate in. With this challenge in mind the North-West University (NWU) Leadership Summit will take place on 10 August 2017.

A dedicated focus on the practice of technology-enhanced learning: this is what the newly established TELIT-SA research focus area is all about. TELIT-SA stands for Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovative Education and Training in South Africa, and looks at the theory and practice of learning technologies across and array of disciplines in higher education.
