NWU Vanderbijlpark kicks-off Soccer Academy with open day

Soccer fever is about to  hit the Vanderbijlpark region and the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark is getting ready to host the first open day of its soon-to-be-launched NWU Vanderbijlpark Soccer Academy.

On Monday, 25 September 2017, youngsters of all ages (boys and girls) and their parents are invited to attend the academy’s open day set to take place on the campus grounds from 09:00 – 12:00.  Players (u/10 – u/19) should bring along their playing kit and soccer boots.

According to Thomas Thema, the coordinator of the event and head of the campus’s soccer activities, the event is open to all players – be it beginners or young professionals. The day will see a team of qualified coaches taking the players through their paces while the South African Football Association (SAFA) will use the event as a grading opportunity for thirty up-and-coming young coaches.
