The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gauteng Department of Community Safety (GDCS) to empower communities and promote social justice, focusing on gender-based violence (GBV).

The North-West University (NWU) is once again leading the way in innovative educational practices with the recent artificial intelligence (AI)-focused workshops organised by its Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovative Training and Education in South Africa (TELIT-SA) research entity.

In collaboration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), these workshops, held on 19 and 20 March 2025, were aimed at enhancing the integration of AI within higher education.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) School of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management recently held a successful international symposium that brought together esteemed academics and industry professionals from around the globe.

Prof Marissa Brouwers, deputy director of the school, says the need for the symposium was motivated by the visit of three distinguished international academics, Prof Charissa Freese and Prof Irmgard Borghouts from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and Prof Nick Prince from Wyoming University, USA.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus recently organised a powerful demonstration of unity and awareness called the Walk of Change, with various internal and external stakeholders participating.

“Part of my job as a house parent involves promoting student wellness. This initiative aims to inspire the university community by setting an example in the pursuit of a more equitable future, where human rights are respected and violence is not tolerated,” said Makhotso Mosikidi, NWU staff member and residence house parent who led the walk.

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Alumni Relations section, in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology, recently hosted a vibrant Theology reunion at the Vanderbijlpark Campus’s Tsebonokeng Hall, providing an excellent opportunity for alumni to reconnect and learn about the latest developments at the university.

Zanele Ngobese, alumni relations practitioner and event organiser, says the aim of the reunion was to foster a sense of community among former students, while also encouraging them to play an active role in the university’s future.

The North-West University's (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus was recently alive with excitement and pride as the campus hosted a University Sports South Africa (USSA) homecoming event.

This occasion, dedicated to honouring the remarkable achievements of student athletes who showcased exceptional talent in the recent USSA tournament, was the brainchild of Tinyiko Mazwaya, Student Campus Council (SCC) Sports Officer for 2024/25.
