North-West Province in for Covid-19 surge, warn experts

Health experts are sounding the alarm following reports of a spike in positive Covid-19 tests. Although not indicative of a third wave yet, they agree that the recent Easter long weekend was a contributory factor.

As the country prepares for another long weekend during which Freedom Day and Workers Day holidays will be observed, fears are that the break – often characterised by cross-provincial travel – will exacerbate Covid-19 infections even further.

Government commits to find solutions for unemployed IKS graduates

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, has expressed government’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to find solutions to unemployment for graduates within the indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) sector.

The Minister was speaking at a two-day virtual summit hosted by North-West University (NWU) in collaboration with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Universities of Venda, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal on 30 and 31 March 2021.
