North-West University (NWU) student Oscar Mosenogi is participating in the 8th International i-Boot Camp hosted by the Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) from 21 to 25 February.
This i-Boot Camp is an intensive training programme that seeks to empower young African entrepreneurs with the knowledge and resources needed to bridge information gaps and to seize the boundless potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The event is organised by various key entities, including the AfCFTA, the African Export-Import Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the International Trade Centre, and the United Nations Development Programme.
The theme of this year’s boot camp is "Breaking information barriers in intra-Africa trade: accelerating youth inclusiveness in implementing the AfCFTA”.
Aligned with the African Union's declaration of 2023 as the "Acceleration of AfCFTA Implementation" year, the i-Boot Camp goes beyond discussions, aiming to translate ideas into concrete actions.
Over these five intensive days, 250 young African entrepreneurs are connecting with investors, and receiving crucial training to expand their businesses across the continent and beyond.
“Participants have the unique opportunity to connect with dedicated angel investors committed to supporting youth-driven businesses, overcoming capital challenges, and providing essential training for financial readiness,” says Oscar.
The event also includes an exciting pitch competition, offering the winner an investment of $25 000 or more to further their growth plans. The competition provides a crucial opportunity for businesses to expand across borders, which is a vital aspect of thriving in today's dynamic business landscape.
“I am very grateful for platforms such as this, as it seeks to champion youth advocacy, development and opportunities. It is also always amazing to meet with individuals around the globe,” he adds.
